CLAIRE LIEBERMAN
I often explore pools and botanicals as a way to encourage dialog about tensions between our natural and built worlds. In my new monoprints, I combine layers of blue and green washes with images of real and imagined plant life. This series is inspired by my recent artist residency on the Gulf Coast. While there, I created sketches of lush plants, luminous underwater life, and pondered questions about our ever-changing, dynamic ocean ecosystems. Reflecting on beauty and danger in subtropical environments reveals that nature itself often contains harsh realities.
