Summer 2013 at Oehme Graphics has been crazy, fun and incredibly busy, and it promises not to slow down. So far this summer we have held one workshop, Master Printer Susan Hover Oehme was invited to give a talk at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and we hosted the Associate Curator of Contermporary Art at the Denver Art Museum, William Morrow, and the Director of the Bolder Contemporary Museum, David Dadone. Oehme Graphics also exhibited in ART Santa Fe, and Diana Cooper has just begun her project. Whew!
Workshops
Students during the June 2013 workshop discuss their work
The first workshop of the summer was in June. Students were able to explore watercolor monotypes and solar plate etching in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Steamboat is one of the most beautiful places to spend the summer, even if its only for the week. Workshops are tailored for each specific groups of students. Previously we only offered two workshops a year, but because of the increasing interest in printmaking workshops at Oehme Graphics, we are going to start having up to six workshops a year.

We are looking forward to the next workshop in August, which is already full. Classes are limited to six students, now that we have two presses. New Faces

We are so happy to have a wonderful group of interns this summer. Arielle was the first intern of the summer and was able to help out with the June workshop. Julia, Jake, and Whitney started in July. Julia unfortunately was only able to stay for a week. Jake and Whitney are here for ART Santa Fe and Diana Cooper’s project. They have been a hard working and delightful group of interns, and we are looking forward to having more next month.

Working on many projects, from printing to hanging the gallery, one of the most impressive projects the interns completed this summer was cleaning and organizing the studio. They did a wonderful job and set a standard that will be hard to live up to.

ART Santa Fe
ART Santa Fe bustling with people
ART Santa Fe was the first big art fair Oehme Graphics participated in this summer. We had the honor of doing the How Things are Made demonstration booth during the fair. Bringing our “baby” Takach press to the fair, we did demonstrations of watercolor monotypes, drypoint etching, and more throughout the weekend. It was great!!!

OG artists Jeffrey Keith, Patsy Krebs, and Eva Bovenzi were all able to make appearances at the fair as well. Patsy even signed the last of her first series of OG editions.
Coming up at Oehme Graphics . . .

The season is not over for Oehme Graphics. Diana Cooper just arrived, and we are super excited about her project. She has been working hard drawing and we are just started the platemaking processes. Jason Karolak will be next artist to do a project, and we also look forward to working with Melissa Meyer and Kathy Bradford in autumn.
Futhermore we are planning more workshops, including one September 9-13, and are going to the Cleveland Print Fair from September 26 – 29. Keep an eye out for the new prints of the summer on OehmeGraphics.com.
