Week Two Collaborating with Ms. Krebs

Picture

The final week of Patsy’s project was a whirlwind of plate wiping for Ashley and Julia, while Sue was busy making the amazingly technical plates for Patsy’s series of larger editioned prints. Patsy completed two series of edition prints which will be available as portfolios with text as well as individually. 65 (based on the Sonnet 65 by Shakespeare) includes seven 13” x 13” prints and Red Wing contains nine 13” x 13” prints.

Sue is carefully painting stop-out in order to step-etch Patsy’s plates. The plates go in the acid after each layer, making some areas darker while leaving others lighter–by being covered by the stop-out, the acid cannot reach the plate and prevents it from etching further.

Proofing in another variation of color. No matter how much you know about printmaking, it is always somewhat of a mystery as to how the colors will decide to interact…one of the reasons printmaking is so exciting!

This is how we kept all of Patsy’s plates organized–each one had a letter, and a home in this grid.

All of Patsy’s prints will be available on the website shortly. Please contact the shop for more information about her project with Oehme Graphics.

Oehme Graphics also hosted a visit from Bill of William Havu Gallery in Denver with artist Monroe Hodder last week.  We also met a new artist to the OG roster (and friend of Patsy’s) who will be doing a project next summer, Eva Bovenzi. Thanks for stopping by!

And finally…We miss you Christie! xo

Up next, Louise Fishman…
