Denver Month of Print (Mo’Print) kicked off the springtime frenzy for OG. This inaugural event proved to be a wonderful celebration of Colorado printmaking. Thank you to everyone that organized Mo’Print and attended the various events. Sue participated in two panel discussions “How Has Technology Changed Printmaking?” and “Innovations with Printmaking”. In addition, Michael Burnett hung most of OG’s framed works in his SPACE Gallery. This show is now hanging in Michael’s fabulous new gallery on 765 Santa Fe Dr. until April 26! While Sue was in Denver she had the opportunity to finally visit Colorado University’s Anschutz Health and Wellness Center. Fabulous Denver art curator, Ann Benson Reidy, placed 52 prints and paintings in the center in 2012.
From Denver Sue flew into Boston for the Boston Print Fair. She was delighted to stay with old friends, Jim and Janine Stroud of Center Street Studio, as well as John Walker and Kayla Mohammadi. Kayla introduced Sue to her Boston University art students, who were a wonderful help assisting Sue at the OG Booth. The four day long show at the Boston Center for the Arts was a huge success. Our selection of framed works caught the attentions of many visitors and sold quickly.
After the Fair, Boston University and Graduate Painting Department head, John Walker, invited Sue to teach a carborundum and watercolor monotype workshop. Her students were creative, enthusiastic, and get to use the coolest printshop ever. Keep up the inspiring work!
Next on the agenda was Washington DC’s Capital Art Fair. Sue and Jim Stroud, from Center Street Studio, loaded up Jim’s van and sat in traffic for hours. Worth the wait, because the weekend fair brought in many new and old faces. Thanks to everyone that stopped by and a huge appreciation for Jim’s good company and support.
Meanwhile back at the OG studio in Steamboat Springs, Sue’s assistants were busy printing Katherine Bradford’s Steamboat Suite portfolio. Katherine’s prints proved to be a huge hit in Boston and DC so we will bring the complete box set on our next trip east, to NYC in November.
On her way back to Steamboat Sue wraps up her trip with the last of Mo’ Print events. She taught another carborundum and watercolor monotype workshop for Denver University Art students and curious community members alongside the head of printmaking, Catherine Chauvin. Her visiting artist talk provided further insight into Sue’s inspiring motivation and history.
