Explorations of form, pattern and texture speak to my interest in the iterative nature of time and existence, the accretion of moment upon moment, the laying in of paper and thread.
My tools and materials are the loom, linen thread, paper yarns of bamboo, silk and linen, dyes and paints; each of whose qualities inform the work.
I create large architectural pieces consisting of sheer woven panels that hang in space or on the wall. They are woven of bamboo, linen, silk and Asian paper yarns, and then dyed using shibori techniques.
My favorite tool is a simple floor loom. The loom provides for a specific quality of exploration: the intersection of the horizontal and the vertical; a grid where interactions take place between the spiritual and the material, the seen and unseen.
