Deborah Freedman lives and works in New York City and Kerhonkson, New York. She studied painting and printmaking at N.Y.U. with Knox Martin, Audrey Flack, James Wines and Robert Blackburn. Her work is included in numerous private and public collections including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The New York Public Library and The U.S.Department of State. She was a MacDowell Colony Fellow in l991 and Guest Artist at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in 1993. In 2012 she was commissioned to create a suite of monoprints for the FDR Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island.

She has also created sets for choreographers including Sara Rudner, Risa Jaroslow, Patricia Hoffbauer and Pooh Kaye . Her painted backdrops and custom scenic designs have been used by the fashion industry's leading clients and photographers including Ruven Afanador, Greg Kadel, Steven Meisel, Giles BenSimon, Diego Uchitel, Patrick DeMarchelier, Palma Kolansky, and Marili Forastieri.

She is the co-founder with Marjorie VanDyke of VanDeb Editions - a printmaking atelier in New York City publishing etchings and monoprints.
